Situated in the ancient Abad Don Lorenzo of Mendoza Palace, today it houses the Town of Alcalá Museum.
The present building is a reconstruction, completed in 1791, and which is situated in the emblematic and central street Carrera de la Mercedes.
Inside, we will find, amongst other remains of our past, the Roman sculpture of Hercules, salvaged from the Roman site of the Domus Herculana, and the famous Treasure of Ermita Nueva, a caliphal treasure from the C10th, testimony to mediaeval life: an authentic voyage in time in the house of the Abad.
Discover the hidden secrets of the ancient fortress of Alcalá along its 120 metres of underground tunnels, such as the Conquest Well.
Available on request and with visits guaranteed on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays.
