This activity lets visitors step into the monumental Antequera located at the high part of the city. The Santa María Square and the Escribanos Square sees the fusion of three historical cultures through monuments such as the Roman thermal baths, the Royal Collegiate Church of Santa Maria and the Citadel. The tour will give you the chance to go inside the Citadel taken by the prince Don Fernando in 1410, which would be a turning part in the conquest of Granada 80 years later. If you go up inside the Tower of Homage you can learn all about the Infante (crown prince) who was baptised Infante of Antequera. But your journey through time doesn’t end here, when you get to the White Tower, the legendary story of tragic love “Peña de los Enamorados” is narrated to you by one of the performers.
This experience also takes you to the Royal Collegiate Church of Santa Maria, one of the first Renaissance buildings in Andalusia and the former Grammar Chair, which gave rise to the Golden Age of Spanish literature. Be overwhelmed by the majestic building which is no longer a place of worship but it is full of spirituality. A maiden of the era will recount the details of the construction of this enigmatic temple to you.
