The Andalusian medium-sized cities of Alcalá la Real (Jaen), Antequera (Malaga), Écija (Seville), Estepa (Seville), Loja (Granada) and Lucena (Cordoba) decided, as a result of the creation of the Tourist Network of Medium-sized Cities in the Centre of Andalusia in 2005, to begin a joint territorial project aiming to articulate the tourist offering through the monumental assets of these sites.

This project involved the start-up of the Foundation of Medium-sized Cities in the Centre of Andalusia, created by the same developers of the original Tourist Network. The Foundation was thus established in Lucena, on 3 December of 2009, before a Notary.

The general objective of this institution is the social and economic development of the cities that comprise the Tourist Network of Medium-sized Cities in the Centre of Andalusia, namely:

• The promotion of culture. Culture as an instrument of social activation and dissemination of the cities involved.
• Job creation. As a fundamental component for the economic promotion and quality of life of the region.
• The encouragement of cultural tourism. As a means of product diversification in the cities of Alcalá la Real (Jaen), Antequera (Malaga), Écija (Seville), Estepa (Seville), Loja (Granada) and Lucena (Córdoba).

In order to achieve such objectives, the Foundation, based on principles of solidarity and collaboration among the founders, will manage, promote and market the tourist offerings of the Tourist Network of Medium-sized Cities of the Centre of Andalusia, under the brand “Tu Historia”. This is done in a coordinated and integrated manner for all cities involved, and with the overall management of the main heritage assets contained within each of the cities involved in this project.
