Puente Genil has a population of more than thirty thousand inhabitants. Examples of nineteenth-century innovation that made it possible for the town to be the first in Andalusia to have street lighting by electric light. Three kilometers to the northeast of the urban area of Puente Genil is the most attractive monumental complex of the city, the Archaeological Site of Fuente Álamo, a place with more than one thousand years of history. In the enclave we can admire some of the most important mosaics of the peninsula, which makes Fuente Álamo a reference of Roman art in Spain.
An essential meeting of the visitor is with the pontine gastronomy. Local products, unique and of high quality, such as the ever present quince jelly or the fine wines of Montilla-Moriles, all paired in a kitchen based on the gardens of Genil and the liquid gold of the best extra virgin olive oil.
Pontana Holy Week, considered one of the most peculiar and popular in Andalusia, which is reflected in its remarkable Brotherhoods, Brotherhoods, barracks, biblical figures and in Lent.
