Castle of Moral, Archaeological and Ethnological Museum

The Archaeological and Ethnological Museum is located in the Castle of Moral  named after the Torre del Moral. Especially relevant when considering the shield representing a menorah. This defensive fortress whose construction dates back to the Almohad era, was declared a National Monument in 1931. This declaration takes place for having been in this fortified enclave, where the last king of Granada, Boabdil “El Chico”, was imprisoned in his tower of homage. of being captured in the battle of Martín González (1483).

Later it becomes the residence of the Marquises of Comares. Later it is transformed into the Palace of the Dukes of Medinaceli, suffering a physical reconstruction in most of its physiognomy.

At present, the Castle of the Moral lodges from 2001 the Archaeological and Ethnological Museum of the City. It shows the visitor a thematic tour of ten rooms that reflect the evolution and the idiosyncrasies of Lucena, so that in each there is an interactive point to transmit the information to the visitor.
It is considered one of the few examples of a plain castle in Andalusia.
